Your Life is a Story

I had a lovely afternoon today. Lunch with a friend and her beautiful 17 month old daughter at a favorite sandwich place. Then a stroll around Downtown Minot to take some pictures on this warm September day. And a stop at Main Street Books where I left a prayer on a bookshelf dedicated to classics in the used book section. I wish more days could be like today... Simple. Taking in the everyday beauty and capturing it. Enjoying place and time.

Dear Reader

While attending a worship service at my church and seeking words of encouragement, I was suddenly inspired by Frank Warren's PostSecret movement and The 1000 Journals Project and Amy Krouse Rosenthal with her Lost and Found books and...

Inspired, I decided that I would write the words I needed to hear in the form of a prayer and pass it along to whoever may encounter it. So I scrawled the prayer on a scrap piece of paper, dated it, and noted at the bottom to "Pass a prayer..." Then I placed it in the hymnal book.

I don't know if anyone has yet to find it, but in writing those few words I found what I needed in that moment. I continue to pass prayers from time to time and I encourage you to do the same. But it doesn't have to be left only in a church. Leave your prayer in a book at a library, in a journal waiting to be purchased, in a stranger's mailbox, insert it into the folds of a newspaper...

If you feel inspired to share a prayer with a stranger, perhaps you'd share it with the world as well. Email me your prayer, the date you wrote it, and where you left it. If you can, take a photo of the prayer. Or if you have found a prayer and would like to share it as well, please contact me.

I hope that together we can send messages of hope and peace and love to those who need it most. That we can bring unexpected moments of light to those who may feel left in the dark. Or that we can simply bring a smile to someone's face.
